I had a great conversation with a student yesterday about the concept of ‘control.’ She realized that most of her attempts to control her life were rooted in trying to control her external environment. In other words, she was trying to control her partner, friends, and pets.
You really gain nothing by trying to control others. In fact, it creates more drama in your life. The amount of external stimuli will build and build and you end up taking on more stress.
Rather than trying to control others when you feel out of control, how about doing something that will contribute to inner control?
Try meditating. It is your greatest source of internal control.
If meditation is not easy for you, I’ve created some MP3’s for you to follow along. There, you’ll find free downloads. Enjoy!
