I had a great conversation with a student yesterday about the concept of ‘control.’ She realized that most of her attempts to control her life were rooted in trying to control her external environment. In other words, she was trying to control her partner, friends, and pets.
You really gain nothing by trying to control others. In fact, it creates more drama in your life. The amount of external stimuli will build and build and you end up taking on more stress.
Rather than trying to control others when you feel out of control, how about doing something that will contribute to inner control?
Try meditating. It is your greatest source of internal control.
If meditation is not easy for you, I’ve created some MP3’s for you to follow along. There, you’ll find free downloads. Enjoy!

Meditate on feeling. The heart has its own poem. Meditate on feeling. Feel it rise from the unknown. Slow the running stream. Just sit and let it pool. Empty out your thoughts. Let the bowl become the meal. Empty out your thoughts. Let the nothing touch the real.
This was the last stanza of Brian Michael Tracy’spoem Meditate on Feeling. I particularly like the line let the bowl become the meal. It is a metaphor for the mind and body.
Too often we think we are our mind. We are much more than that. Talk to any body centered person and you will recognize how much wisdom they access from their body. It’s like learning a new language. And it is one you definitely want to learn!

Brian Michael Tracy’s poem continues…
Meditate on feeling. The heart has its own shore. Meditate on feeling. Bring the water to your oar. Gaze into the present. Through the prism of your eyes. Gaze into the present. For there is no more disguise.
I interpret this to live more in my body and be aware of the sensations that create the feeling of life.
This can be done by meditating. You can sit, go within, and just feel. You’ll probably learn more about your life in doing this vs watching educational programs, reading the paper, internet articles, or telling someone else all about yourself.

This is part of a poem written by Brian Michael Tracy. It is important for you to understand that meditation takes you to a deeper part of yourself. This is where you can articulate your feelings without the fear of any pain associated with how it feels.
Brian writes:
Meditate on feeling. The heart has its own song. Meditate on feeling. You are right where you belong. Contemplate believing. Trust day’s recurring night. Contemplate believing. Your inner vision is your light. Reflect upon receiving. The wine is there to taste.
Couldn’t have put it better myself.
