Do you dance when you feel the music want to move you? Do you take breaks when you need to rest?

What keeps your world turning?

You may think the answers are acts of doing. You may be thinking of all the things you would like to get done today. Would that keep your world turning?

Your mind is doing more work than it needs to. If your physical health is not in tact, your world will stop turning. You need to take breaks and tap into the wisdom of your body.

You can do this by meditating.

It’s not that difficult and it is tremendously helpful. It will get you to experience inner peace and that is all you really need!

Got Junk? 11/26/2008

You just can’t do it all. You’ve got to take breaks, ask for help, and reduce the amount of what needs to get done in certain times.

How do you do this?

One answer.

Meditate.

Most of the “Junk” is made up in your mind. Meditating stores, organizes, and reduces the amount of junk.  It’s as simple as that!

Anxiety is distress in the mind due to worry of futuristic events.

Take a mental break and meditate on this

This blog post is about the discipline to meditate.  Too many times I have heard someone express the liking of the idea to meditate, but they have too many excuses not to.

Understand that if your life is “hectic” right now, this is the best time to meditate. Your mind loves to be hectic. It gets addicted to it. And when things are hectic, your mind will creatively and trickily do things to make life even more hectic.

The mind is like a monkey. It will playfully swing from branch to branch looking for the ripe banana. Life doesn’t always have ripe bananas Guess what happens when the mind keeps looking but life doesn’t have ripe bananas available?

Hecticness

Be disciplined to make the time to meditate. It somehow magically opens up more time in your schedule and you’ll feel more energy to achieve your tasks.

You’ve got nothing to lose but hecticness!

If you cater your meditations to be body centered, you are more likely to feel a sense of spirit.  Many people meditate to reduce the mind chatter in their head. This is all good but can be quite challenging to feel your spirit. Your mind can be very active. Meditations that are vipassana style, which are more mind focused, concentrate a lot of their energy on thoughts or the lack of.

Honor your body in your meditations and your spirit will shine. Feel sensations and you will feel spirit!

My friends,

If you are reading this, you are very lucky!

There’s a lot of self-help programs that are being marketed in a way that leads you to believe enlightenment can be yours, instantly.

That’s very dangerous and it sets you up for what is called “bypass.”

Bypass is the act of using spirituality to replace emotional and psychological wounding. It is a form of “giving it up to God” and then living in denial when your feelings are painful. Bypass is dangerous because it can mess with your mind, and create more emotional and psychological harm.

Now, I’m very spiritual and I have nothing against praying and asking for help from something greater than us. I’m only warning you to be responsible for your emotions. Yes, it hurts, Yes, it’s hard. And Yes, it is your ticket to growing, maturing, gaining wisdom and self love.

So the next time you pray for guidance, communicate with the angels, talk to spirits, or whatever, know that you need to DO something within yourself; your own body and mind needs to take responsibility and action.

Are you a people person? Do you find yourself enjoying the company of others?

If so, are you your true self when with other people?

Last night, I attended a lecture given by a person who claims she lives from a place of “Love consciousness.” She said she was at a higher vibration and her daily experience was unconditional self love.

I thought “Wow, what a great place to be! Unconditionally loving myself, all the time.”

Something got me to wonder though… If she is unconditionally loving herself, all the time, what does she do to nurture herself?

So I asked.

Her answer was what helped me understand the importance of being authentic.

She replied with things I should do to unconditionally love myself. She never answered my question. Her response was enough for me to understand that she was not authentic. She was a business woman, selling her product (book).

What a disappointment!

I understand that she needs to make a living. I realize that she is trying to help others. What I don’t understand is why she preaches “taking off our masks” when she continues to wear hers.

Do you wear the mask in the presence of others?

Try something risky-fun today. The next time you ask someone how they are, if they say “good” or “great” when the look on their face is very different, call them out on it. Tell them you don’t believe them.

Be authentic in the moment and see what happens. You’ll thank me for it.

I went through massage training nine years ago and body mechanics was one of the most important tools to learn.

I would have never guessed that I would share body mechanics in regards to meditation.

But it is important and I have compiled four things that you can look out for.

#1 posture- particularly with your spine.  keep your spine straight. This will help you breathe better.

#2 Your eyes- some people do eyes open meditation but I recommend closing them. there are less distractions.

#3 Your hands- If you are sitting, rest your hands on your thighs with your palms up. This will ensure that you are not clenching any muscles in the arms and hands.

#4 Stay relaxed. If a foot or other body part starts to fall asleep or causes pain/discomfort, shift your body. You want to be as relaxed as you can get (without falling asleep).

These four tips for body mechanics will help your meditation practice develop and prosper.

Let me know how it’s going.

Do you know what mind chatter is? It is the random and unnecessary thoughts that wander through our minds at the most irrelevant time. For example, when you’re taking a wonderful bubble bath, relaxing to the fullest, and then your mind “buds” in with thoughts of your to do list, tasks, emails you need to send, errands to run, or others.

It’s really annoying.

If this happens to you, try a “mind mantra”. In your own mind, say “Thanks for visiting. Goodbye for now” It helps you get back to what’s more important… relaxation!
